The recent passing of this trainee’s husband put her in an untenable situation. Her cash flow had dried up due to caring for her husband during his illness over the past 5 years. The bank was calling in her Mortgage and requiring her to pay credit card debt that her husband had accrued. Trying to manage this on an unemployment benefit, had taken its toll on her. She was relying on lunch from Te Whangai Trust to sustain her basic requirements for food. Te Whangai assisted her with budgets and renegotiated her interim finances with her bank.

She persevered and with guidance and support from the Trust, she secured employment with Geneva Healthcare, which has put her in a position to manage the other problems.
