Te Whangai needs your support to keep changing lives and empowering our community

Your support can help create lasting change for Aotearoa’s most vulnerable people and environment. At Te Whangai Trust, we have pioneered an innovative social investment model rooted in Kaupapa Māori values and sustainability principles. By placing people at the heart of our mission, we empower the most vulnerable—those trapped in welfare cycles, impacted by addiction, or exploited by gangs—to rebuild their lives while restoring our ecosystems.

Over 20 years, Te Whangai has supported 3,000 individuals to break free from dependency, fostering skills, employment, and hope. Our scalable, multi-agency model addresses social inequity and environmental degradation, delivering tangible benefits to communities and reducing taxpayer costs in justice, welfare, and health systems.

Te Whangai supports community members that are excluded from other training opportunities due to participants complex issues. Their focus is on people and on the future of our communities.

A holistic approach includes: confidence building and soft skills, life skills, resilience training, wellbeing training, cultural identity, work ethic, activities to get participants physically and mentally fit for the work environment, support to get qualifications and work experience, and support when they are in more advanced training or employment.

We invite you to partner with us by investing in this transformative model. Your support will ensure the next generation has the resources, skills, and hope to thrive. Together, we can create systemic change and build a sustainable, inclusive future for Aotearoa.
